#746 Fiat to SmartCash

By IzzyCJR

Thanks to a ruling made in Pennsylvania the barriers to compete with Coinbase ( fiat to crypto ) are slowly crumbling. ( https://cointelegraph.com/news/us-pennsylvania-rules-that-crypto-exchanges-atms-are-not-money-transmitters ) This provides the perfect opportunity for SmartCash to reduce it's reliance on exchanges.

My previous proposal contained multiple services in a single submission. I chose that route to avoid the 14 day waiting period between each submission ( ie: proposal voting process ). Under this model I would be able to complete a milestone, submit the proper SMART documents, and begin the next milestone.

Based on feedback from the community, and the advice of a few SMART team members I have closed the previous submission in favor of creating separate proposals.

In the event of multiple proposals passing the community is protected by the SMART team. I must complete each milestone in order to receive payment. Thanks to this rule I will be able to go through the voting process ahead of time, and the SMART community is guaranteed the delivery of each milestone.

Every milestone will be open sourced!

I developed BuyPivx.site as a MVP for PIVX ( I own the source code ). The goal is simple, Pay in fiat using an online payment processor, receive PIVX sent directly to your wallet address.

Online payment processors accept any online transaction, some well known payment processers have gone as far as partnering with cryptocurrency projects directly ( https://blog.sendwyre.com/wyre-partners-with-bzx-the-protocol-that-powers-decentralized-margin-lending-f838e72b6d63 )

I believe there is an opportunity for the SMART team or community to begin selling SMART directly. This will eliminate the direct reliance on exchanges while also providing users from around the world a wide range of payment options.

Paypal and Stripe have already been integrated. The API's to integrate each of the payment providers listed below are open. If accepted I will start with the list provided below and I will introduce new proposals to integrate additional payment processors once this proposal is complete.

As the person pay we need to send him/her SMART, where will this SMART come from?

    IzzyCJR 03/06/2019 11:47

During my last proposal Solarminer introduced me to the SAPI that will be released soon ( smartcash api, you can find the conversation in the proposal server ) I can integrate this API into the service. The current method uses exchanges, If accepted by the community I intend to build various "plugins" to increase the sending options available.

As a part of my proposal I will be open sourcing and hosting the service being developed. If the Smart team finds my service valuable I will assist with direct integration in Smart products like the web wallet. My long term goal is to work with/for the SMART community to begin developing services that will grow the ecosystem. If you have voted no/abstain on this proposal would you mind providing feedback?

It looks like the buypivx.site is incomplete and only partially functioning. What can you share to show you will or can complete and maintain the buysmart.site?

    IzzyCJR 03/14/2019 22:05

The service is 100% complete I am not selling PIVX so I disconnected my PIVX wallet + paypal/stripe API keys otherwise the site would accept payments without sending PIVX to anyone which would not be very good. Milestones are not paid out until the service can be demo'd to the SMART team so that covers your concerns around it being complete. With maintenance these payment platforms cannot create API breaking changes. If this happened every ecommerce platform would be unable to accept payments from these services so that will not be an issue. As far as upgrades go I will continue to submit proposals to add additional payment processors etc. and the community can decide if they would like to continue upgrading/maintaining this open sourced service.
