#145 Introduction to cryptocurrencies with SmartCash rewards

By Hills-Bills

We would like to run an introduction to cryptocurrency course and want to offer SmartCash rewards for the students that score the highest marks in the weekly quiz.

I am the founder of an EdTech startup called Thutor (thutor.co) that specializes in finance courses for university students.

We would like to run an introduction to cryptocurrency course on our EdTech platform that will offer SmartCash coins as rewards for students who get the highest marks in the crypto-currency course quiz each week.

You can see our current course offering on our home page (financial accounting, auditing, costing) which will expand to include a new the crypto course.

Why a crypto-course?

The aim of the course will be to introduce students from a traditional finance background to cryptocurrencies. SmartCash will be the first cryptos that the students learn which will be an excellent way of creating interest and understanding around the SmartCash ecosystem.

Students will be rewarded based on their understanding therefore they will likely become advocates for cryptocurrencies and more specifically SmartCash.

How the course will work

An email will be sent at the beginning of the week detailing the topics and articles/videos that will be relevant to a quiz in that week. The topics will cover any of the following areas

- History of cryptos

- Mining

- Important coins

- Blockchain technology

- Exchange gateways and trading

A quiz will become available in the middle of the week and students will have until Friday to complete it, after which the answers will be made available and the winners announced.

The quiz will be 10 - 15 questions each week, 2 - 4 of these questions will be specific to the SmartCash currency and ecosystem.

The top performers in the quiz each week will be announced on Facebook on Friday so the SmartCash community will be able to see the results on a weekly basis.

The course will start on 19th of February.

It will be free for anyone to register but will be specifically marketed to finance students.

Funding: $2400

This will be used as follows:

Total rewards = $350 x 4 weeks = $1 400

Marketing course = $50 x 4 = $200

Course creation and management =  $200 x 4 = $800

My credentials:

I am the co-founder of Thutor and grew the platform from 100 to 1200 monthly users since launch in June last year.

I will also be creating the content for the course. I have given ICO and crypto presentations in Cape Town since July last year and have a strong background in finance, having worked as a lecturer at the top university in Africa and having passed all my CFA exams.

The aims is to:

  • have weekly growth of 20% in registered users
  • overall 100 students registered over a period of a month

I would like to try a one month pilot to meet these milestones and prove to the community the viability going forward.

Benefits to SmartCash

  • Marketing to a key demographic (finance students) through exclusive branding rights of the course
  • Marketing of the benefits of the coin (as each week questions will be asked about the SmartCash ecosystem)
  • Acquisition of new smart and interested users into the SmartCash ecosystem (only the top students each week will win rewards)

https://twitter.com/mythutor Only 1 hello world tweet? https://www.thutor.co/ Out of the box site? Sorry but i'm not sold.

@MagnieticSoup we don't use twitter at all. Just setup an account when we did our first beta. Our Facebook page has our weekly posts during our university pilot: https://www.facebook.com/mythutor/?ref=br_rs. I'm happy to send you Google analytics screenshots or equivalent if you want to see activity on the site?

Site analytics would be helpful to show an established platform. I would also recommend showing examples of some of your prior courses so that voters can get a sense of the quality of your teaching materials. Maybe upload some samples and data to a Google Drive that you can share?

Absolutely - I added supporting information to this folder. I included question examples from some the courses on the platform as well as site analytics. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1mqXkD-d8sWbizX_L1GPQRe3xsRaPltyu?usp=sharing
