#209 Actuarial Blockchain Educational Videos Part 2

By mjthestudentactuary

Summary

This is a follow-on from an earlier approved proposal. The Actuarial videos that educate people on blockchain's potential have been a big success and we would like to continue with more video. We reward comments with SmartCash and our target audience is investment professionals.

Description

Intro

My name is Michael Jordan and I host a Youtube Channel called MJ the Student Actuary (11 000 subscribers, 1.2 million total views). I've studied Actuarial Science for 7 years and have passed all the professional exams for the Fellowship for the South African Society as well as for the international profession, the Chartered Enterprise Risk Actuaries. I specialized in Investments and Banking and can see Blockchain bringing about a Financial Revolution.

Previous Videos

The target was to get 2000 views per video. So far the first two videos have reached 11000 views each and the third video has just been released and is getting views fast. You can see them here:

  1. Blockchain and Catastrophe Bonds: How granulation can open up this new asset class.
    1. Link: https://youtu.be/Ks9pce9Z6B4
    2. Views: 11597
  2. Blockchain and Reinsurance Transfer: How Non Fungible Tokens can allow for the trading of risks.
    1. Link: https://youtu.be/jkkz8YAFQ
    2. Views: 11000
  3. Blockchain and Tax: How cryptocurrencies can invent a more efficient economy.
    1. Link: https://youtu.be/Ks9pce9Z6B4
    2. Views: 4079 and climbing
  4. Blockchain and Foreign Markets:  How international barriers have been broken down.
    1. Will be released in the next coming days.

The videos are getting more views than expected and it would be great to continue the series. Since proposals take a few days to get accepted, I thought I'd release it now so that there isn't too long a delay between videos.

New Videos

The new videos will continue the theme of looking at how Blockchain and related technologies can disrupt the financial industry. Proposed topics: (Feel free to comment with your own suggestions)

  1. Can Blockchain allow for Continuous Cashflow payments?
  2. How Blockchain can make financial Peer-to-Peer platforms sustainable.
  3. Can a decentralised currency allow Africa to enter an economic Golden Age?
  4. Why Insurance companies don't need the Blockchain and what they actually need instead.
  5. What can we learn from Bees and other decentralised natural systems?
  6. Is a mobile Blockchain possible over traditional telecommunication networks?
  7. Blockchain and Fraud, why this isn't an easy problem to solve.
  8. Why Non-Profit Organisations will benefit the most from Blockchain accounting.

The bulk of the videos will be based on the Actuarial Syllabus but students in finance, business, accounting, investments, and economics will be able to benefit from them. The videos will also bring in a more mature audience of professionals working in these sectors.

Structure

Each video will be around 10 minutes in length. They will start with the SmartCash logo before diving into the material. At the end of the video, a feature of SmartCash will be mentioned and the viewers will be told that the top comment by the end of the week will earn $50 in SmartCash. This will encourage viewer engagement and get people creating SmartCash Wallets.

Benefit to SmartCash

These videos allow SmartCash to get exposure to Smart people. People in these industries have the purchasing power to become serious investors and some of them may even represent the billion-dollar, institutional investors. Thanks to the last set of videos I had a Zoom call with an executive from Munich Re who was interested in SmartCash and Blockchain potential.

Budget

  • Marketing the videos: $800 ($100 per video)
  • Creation of content:$4000 ($500 per video)
  • Prize for Top Comments: $400 ($50 per video)

Total Amount: $5200

Deliverables

The aim is to get the first video out at the beginning of May and release one every week for the next two months.

Each video's objective is to get 15000 views and a meaningful discussion in the comment section.

Very interesting project, I am interested in helping in participating in this, but I am concerned about the actual exposure of SMART in these videos as little more than a paid advertiser. Can you elaborate a little more as to how you will be integrating Smart into these videos besides just a logo in the beginning and a give away of some coins at then end?

Thanks for your comment and you raise an important point. I do try and bring SmartCash into the discussion and make it more of a focal point than just a sponsor. For example, in my Tax video I talk about how SmartCash's governance system could be adopted by a country that wants to replace tax. Governments could get the large chunk of the mining reward just like the Smart Hive does and do away with tax collection. If I can wrap up a topic in 8 minutes then I can always use the remaining 2 minutes to talk about a specific SmartCash feature. Would love to get you involved in this project so please let me know if you have other questions.
