Funding is expected to be received in parts during the ongoing process as milestones met.
Responsible for project development: @God
Project is currently supported by: @hockleyj @cknr7 @Semptly @cryptodate @fairypark @markjason @Karl @CikoXp @alejem93 @calmadigital @Kuya
Timeline estimated: 35 - 65 days of ongoing work, depending on community involvement
Expected work volume: requested amount should be sufficient to implement effective multilingual translation process and fund high-quality translation of SmartCash website, voting portal (2 pages), essential guidelines and motivational content into 5 - 8 languages depending on current needs determined by SmartCash community. Alternatively, if the Hive would be particularly focused on 3-5 languages it would create extensive content in each of them. The priorities will be set in favor of SmartCash popularization according to ongoing working processes and team members engaged. But no matter how fast the Hive grow, funds be only spent as intended. Obviously the higher priority here is to allocate funds efficiently, rather than quick. If the new members join more rarely then expected, then it would just take more time.
Language teams ready to start: French, Russian
High priority languages: Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Mandarin, German, Korean.
Follow-up: the Hive will continue the work submitting detailed reports monthly and creating a proposal for the next time period based on expected job volume.
Hive structure: general translation coordinator, language ambassadors, and translators.
Hive members duties
General translation coordinator is responsible for:
-enabling flawless funding for prioritized translation tasks
-choosing topical content for multilanguage translation (with help of other members)
-distributing the work among language ambassadors
-overall quality of translations (especially in new language groups)
-fast and efficient communication/funding of language ambassadors and translators
-ensuring correct funds distribution
-applying initial vesting process while organizing new language groups
-mitigating possible issues and finding suitable solutions
-submitting detailed financial reports on the Hive work
-estimating new job volume and upcoming month expenses
-submitting translation Hive proposal for funding
During the Hive launch, the general coordinator should compile:
-translation Hive funding proposal template
-monthly financial report spreadsheets
-working guidelines for global translation coordinator, language ambassadors, and translators
-recommendations on vetting processes
-spreadsheets for interaction between language ambassador and translators
Language ambassador duties:
-picking up skilled members of SmartCash to engage in the translation process
-distributing jobs among them
-assessing, validating and editing translations (proofreading)
-ensuring high quality of translations
-cooperating with general coordinator
-submitting detailed reports with links to actual jobs done by his team
-triggering translation of outstanding non-English material into English (in cooperation with other Hive members)
-translating content himself (voluntary)
-to apply for the translation job (1 job at a time)
-to submit a high-quality translation to language ambassador for approval and proofreading
Please refer to the case scenario on the forum (the link on top) as here costs structure is described briefly. The starting point in costs is based on present market average translation pay which is currently estimated at $0.1 per word.
The quantity of language ambassador work directly corresponds to his group size and their job volume and is decided to be paid as 10% on top of their job volume.
General translation coordinator pay rate is based on the total job volume performed by translators and set as 7% on their total pay for the current proposal (the Hive launch will demand more involvement) and roughly estimated to be 5% on following
proposals. Real life experience is needed in order to estimate working hours required for efficient function of general coordinator, and corresponding pay rate.
The translation Hive will reside on SmartCash subforum with categories respective to each language. The Hive will be deciding on high priority tasks with help of active SmartCash members. The whole working process together with funds distributions will be fully transparent and easy to monitor by any community member. The current plan is to utilize Excel spreadsheets for jobs distribution. Although it may be done more efficiently with relatively simple MySQL/PHP web-interface, at this stage spreadsheets would do the job.
Dedicated web-wallet for Multilingual Translation Hive is created where all the transactions will reflect actual ongoing processes within the Hive.
Current positions allocated to:
General translation coordinator: @God
Russian language ambassador: @God
Russian translator: @Semptly
French language ambassador: @Karl
French translator: @Cknr7
The French team has prepared pre-proposal for French translation and decided, that in case the Multilingual Translation Hive proposal is approved, French team would join the Multilingual Translation Hive. If their proposal is submitted and approved, then French team will work according to their working plan, joining the Hive later on. In any scenario, the funds for the current proposal remain for the next period if not spent on time.
