#394 SMARTSUNDAYS in Mexico City in May/June

By endlessfun

Summary

SmartSundays presentations & introduction to businesses in Mexico City.

Description

Description
As a continuation of the SmartFridays model introduced by @Oucan and @Eiky in the Cancun area, SmartSundays will introduce SmartCash in Mexico City and add several new businesses to the list of businesses that accept SmartCash.

The Places we will visit are in no specific order: North Division Tattoo Studio, La Cañita sea food restaurant, Elvis bar (a popular bar in the center) and ATEA, an arts and cultural center with workshops of everything from bicycles to architects.

We expect around 30 participants at every event, where they will learn about SmartCash, get free SmartCash T-shirts, Paliacates(see below) and SmartCash. The presentations vary in the give aways depending on the business we visit. In the case of the tattoo studio North Division 4 people will get a 500 MXN (27 USD) refund in SmartCash if they get a tattoo the same day, in the other places the people attending can get a 5 USD refund of their consumption in SmartCash.

The places
North Division Tattoo
Run by Allan Muerto and Jesus “ISRA” Ortega, who has more than 20 years in the business. Allan Muerto is known for his woodcut like tattoo style and Isra is known for traditional tattoo style. They will accept SmartCash.

La Cañita, sea food restaurant
A small and cosy veracruz style sea food restaurant run by Ali Gua Gua who is a famous musician and Dj best know for her bands Las Ultrasonicas and Kumbia Queers, and her wife Diana Torres who is a writer and performance artist. They host concerts every weekend. They will accept smartcash.

Elvis bar
A popular bar on Insurgentes in a part of town called Roma where you can find a lot of night life and shopping. Don’t know yet if it is possible for the bar/owner to practically accept SmartCash but I will work on it.

ATEA
A thriving cultural center that hosts events and has several workshops. They house architects, artists, designers, a bicycle repair shop and more. I hope this opens the door for SmartCash into the arts sector.

Who are we?
@Pest
I have assisted @Oumar and @Eiky on one occation in Playa del Carmen and represented SmartCash at the recent Talent Land event in Guadalajara and at Anarchaforko in Acapulco. I am also behind the proposal of sponsoring Mexican MMA fighter Israel Pirra Mora, who is joining me for this month of SmartSundays.

@Pirra is a Mexican MMA Fighter from the Bonebreakers Gym who I introduced to SmartCash and sponsored with my last proposal. He is also a tech/ computer nerd who is very active on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, who will be responsible for online shilling of the events.

@RodrigoMendoza, a musician who runs his own recording studio, will join us to help illustrate how small businesses can benefit from accepting SmartCash.

@TheWalk_er
Ignacio aka @TheWalk_er is funded by the SmartCash community to produce a video blog, conduct interviews and write about SmartCash. He will join us two times at the SmartSundays.

Notes on the budget
The tv is for the presentations as none of the places has anything we can use. The chromecast is to cast the wallet up on the screen in order to to show the voting system and how to secure the wallet. At Talent land I found that people had difficulty understanding the importance of backing up the private key and master security key, and I want to make a point of this and as well the voting system. I will reuse the tv for later proposals or donate it.
Ignacio asked for compensation for this stay and travel costs as he lives in Queretaro a few hours from Mexico City.
Paliacates are a kind of scarf popular in Mexico, often used to cover the face: https://bit.ly/2KtC0C3.
